Rohit Sharma's Form on the Rise

Mark Boucher, the former wicketkeeper-batter for South Africa, has expressed optimism about Rohit Sharma's performance in the IPL, suggesting that the struggling Mumbai Indians veteran is on the verge of a significant innings.

So far this season, Rohit has struggled to surpass the 50-run mark, with his highest score being just 26 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.

Boucher noted, 'Rohit Sharma took it upon himself to attack the bowlers. We witnessed some classic Rohit Sharma sixes—impressive ones too. His attitude was commendable.'

'He applied pressure on the bowlers and created scoring chances. He was just past the 30-run mark—expect a big score from him soon. He seems to be finding his rhythm again,' he added during an IPL broadcast.

Hardik Pandya's Impact on the Team

Boucher also commented on MI captain Hardik Pandya's performance, highlighting his quick 21 runs off just nine balls, which included three fours and a six, bringing Mumbai close to victory.

'Hardik Pandya is among the world's top all-rounders. When he performs well, the team typically secures a win. I appreciate his evolving role with the ball—he's not only bowling during the power play but also in challenging middle overs, the 'ugly overs.'

'He’s taking wickets in those crucial moments, boosting his confidence, which reflects in his batting as he steps in to finish games.' Regarding Will Jacks, Boucher remarked, 'Will has faced pressure and hasn't met his own expectations at the start of the tournament. However, he is a remarkable all-rounder, more than just a part-time spinner.'

'He bowled effectively and secured vital wickets, which likely enhanced his batting confidence—finally feeling like he’s made a contribution. There’s no reason he can’t maintain this momentum and achieve great things as he has with other teams and for England.'

Ajay Jadeja's Take on Pandya's Leadership

Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja also weighed in on Pandya's leadership qualities.

'Hardik Pandya is a dynamic character, leading from the front in batting, bowling, fielding, and even off the field. He always has a smile on his face. One thing about him is that he never gives up.'

'Last year was challenging for him, but this season, even with less-than-ideal results early on, he has remained true to his style.' Jadeja believes MI's revival began with their Super Over victory against Delhi Capitals on April 16.

'In my view, the turning point was the last match against Delhi Capitals. Many teams would have given up, but the Mumbai Indians fought back—and that’s the essence of Hardik Pandya. That game could very well have changed their season.'

'Tonight was a bonus. It was a comfortable win, but the Delhi match demonstrated the resilience of MI and Hardik. When Hardik Pandya is at the crease, even needing 10, 12, or 15 runs an over, you still feel they have a better chance.'
